Academic programme
Over the past fifteen years, growing numbers of displacement-affected learners have accessed undergraduate degrees, particularly through initiatives aligned with UNHCR’s 15by30 movement. Yet the pathway often narrows at the postgraduate level. Master’s and PhD study, where specialisation, research leadership, and long-term influence are formed, remains difficult to access for those affected by displacement.
The Academic Programme opens advanced academic opportunities for displacement-affected learners, recognising that higher education changes trajectories and builds the capacity for critical thinking, specialisation, and long-term leadership.
Our Academic Programme supports final-year and bachelor’s degree holders with lived experience to move into postgraduate study, advanced research, and leadership in academia and practice. At the centre of this work is a commitment to accompaniment: meeting learners where they are, providing structured guidance rather than one-off advice, and building readiness step by step.The programme includes three interconnected stages:
Bridging courses
Strengthen education foundations and postgraduate readiness through structured pathways in Refugee and Forced Migration Studies. RLRH Foundations and RSC Pathways have reached more than 1,000 learners worldwide, while Graduate Admissions Essentials supports those building their academic profiles and skillsets ahead of future applications.
Graduate Horizons
Graduate Horizons is RLRH’s flagship postgraduate access programme, matching displacement-affected learners with mentors and providing close support through the master’s and PhD application process.
Learning resources
Learning Resources provide open-access materials to support independent preparation at any stage of the postgraduate journey.
