RLRH’s Professional Pathways Pillar recently concluded a five-part workshop series, guiding 20 affiliates through structured career roadmapping, application tailoring, and strategies to translate their strengths into professional pathways.

The Oxfordshire Community Hub (OCH) Fellowship 2026 has launched! This programme provides a collaborative space for fellows to exchange knowledge and enhance research skills. Five talented individuals were selected for a six-month journey developing their Independent Research Projects in the social sciences.

Amani Bikungu, a Graduate Trainee based at RLRH’s Kampala hub, shares her reflections on the programme so far. Now nine weeks in, Amani describes the experience as one that is changing her perspective in significant ways, from workshops on writing, professional communication, and AI and plagiarism, to take-home exercises and team-based learning.

Refugee Week 2026 brought RLRH affiliates and colleagues together across the globe to explore this year’s theme of Courage. Through film screenings, creative activities, shared meals, and honest conversation, each gathering made space to reflect on what courage looks like in the daily lives of affiliates and colleagues with experience of forced displacement.

RLRH marked the start of Refugee Week at the Oxford Sanctuary Fair over the weekend, joining community groups and organisations from across the city for a day celebrating sanctuary, welcome and the people who make Oxford a place of refuge.

Three RLRH affiliates presented their research at the Alan Kurdi Lecture, the annual event showcasing research by Sanctuary Scholars at the University of Oxford. All three researchers are currently participating in the RLRH Writing Residency, a programme run by the newly established Oxfordshire Community Hub (OCH).

The second cohort of the RLRH Graduate Traineeship has launched this week, with eighteen new trainees joining the programme across Nairobi, Kampala, and Kakuma.

In October 2025, RLRH launched its first Graduate Traineeship at the Nairobi hub, welcoming seven trainees with lived experience of forced displacement. Over six months, they developed research and professional skills through workshops, peer discussions, and mentorship.

Graduate Horizons is RLRH’s flagship graduate access programme, connecting learners with 500+ master’s degree scholarships at 25+ universities around the globe.

Lead Researchers Fardosa Salah and Mohamed Hassan both contributed to the BIEA-hosted forum exploring how Somali experiences of mobility are changing.

In February, RLRH delivered a week-long training on research skills in Dadaab refugee camp to 25 participants.

RLRH colleagues and affiliates attended the GRF Progress Review, convening a panel and joining discussions on strengthening accountability and meaningful refugee participation in global policy processes.
