Abu Bakkar Siddik
Research Assistant
Abu Bakkar Siddik (Mr ABS Kabil) is a Research Scholar at RLRH SEA, focusing on refugee livelihoods and higher education. He holds a Bachelor of Laws (LLB Hons) from the University of Hertfordshire, Malaysia, awarded through the Fugee HiEd Scholarship.
In 2025, he founded the Global Rohingya Alliance for Peace (GRAP) to advocate for the Rohingya community globally and support grassroots community development. Since 2013, he has worked extensively in the humanitarian sector, collaborating with IOM, UNHCR, and various NGOs across refugee contexts in Bangladesh and Malaysia.
His experience includes nearly five years as a Community Liaison Officer and Migration Researcher with Altamira and Statt Consulting, focusing on preventing forced migration and strengthening refugee protection. He has overseen construction projects with IOM in Bangladesh and volunteered as a UNHCR interpreter in Malaysia for four years, whilst supporting NGOs working with refugee communities.
Mr ABS Kabil is committed to empowering marginalised populations, amplifying refugee voices, and advancing peace and international development.
