John Mariak Manyuon

John Mariak Manyuon is a Research Facilitator with the Refugee-Led Research Hub (RLRH), where he supports oversight of the Kakuma hub, facilitates research workshops, and mentors trainees under the Graduate Traineeship Programme across Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kalobeyei Settlement. In this role, he supports trainees to achieve their aspirations in research, project operations, and coordination.

John is a YALI alumnus with over eight years of experience spanning project design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation (MEL) in research and sustainable development. Previously, he worked as a Lead Research Consultant with Ubongo International, evaluating a social-emotional learning project implemented by refugee-led organisations in Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kalobeyei Settlement. He has also coordinated youth projects with UNHCR across Kakuma and Kalobeyei, identifying key outcomes, structural challenges, and sustainable solutions.

Additionally, John is a Programme Associate (MEL) with the Mastercard Foundation Associate Program via Shortlist Futures, supporting programme delivery through monitoring, evaluation, and learning across East African implementing partners.

He is the founder of Kakuma Refugee Youth Innovation Hub (KRYIH), which delivers entrepreneurial skills training and mentorship to young people and women in Kakuma Refugee Camp and Kalobeyei Settlement, supporting financial independence, local employment, and community-led livelihoods.

John holds an MA in Applied Community Development from Future Generations University (USA) under the Evident Impact Scholarship, and a Bachelor of Commerce in Business Administration from Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) in Kenya under the DAFI Scholarship. His postgraduate studies strengthened his expertise in research, project design, theory of change frameworks, logical frameworks in humanitarian management, and evidence-based community development models.
