Nija Amir
Research Assistant
Nija is a community based advocate passionate for human and refugee rights with a background in law. She currently serves as a Research Assistant at the Refugee-Led Research Hub (RLRH). Before joining RLRH, Nija worked with Asylum Access Malaysia as a Refugee Status Determination Officer and led community capacity building projects with local organizations. She has co-founded several youth and refugee-led initiatives, including the Refugee Youth Network and Vanguards4Change, and has collaborated with UNICEF, DIGI, and UNHCR’s Youth Initiative Fund on advocacy and cyber-safety projects. Introduced to advocacy at the age of 15 through child rights work with Childline 999 and Save and Protect the Children, Nija continues to focus on policy and advocacy that bridge gaps between host societies and refugee communities. When she’s not working, you might find her exploring a quiet corner in the city.
