Winnie Makau

Winnie serves as RLRH’s Kenya Research Facilitator, based in the Nairobi office. She works closely with RLRH’s Senior Research Facilitator to provide comprehensive feedback on research documents and mentorship to colleagues, attaches, research trainees, and independent research affiliates. She also manages the Graduate Traineeship and the Displaced Scholars Research Forum. Her academic interests span sustainable development, food security, peace and conflict management, and forced displacement.

Previously, Winnie was a policy analyst at the Kenya Institute for Public Policy Research and Analysis (KIPPRA), where she co-authored a policy research paper on Youth and Demographic Dividends in Kenya. She also published on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on global north-south relations. She holds a Master of Arts in International Relations with a focus on International Development from USIU Africa, and a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations and Diplomacy from the Technical University of Kenya.
