Uganda is internationally recognised for its progressive refugee policy, in particular its Refugee Act of 2006. However, despite these inclusive legal provisions, refugee women in Uganda continue to face structural and socio-cultural obstacles in accessing the Ugandan legal system. This working paper focuses on the situation of women refugees in the Kyangwali Refugee Settlement and provides recommendations to actors within the refugee protection ecosystem to improve their access to justice.
